Dumbarton earned their second point of 2026 with a stalemate against Clyde.
Chances were few and far between in a stuffy 90 minutes, before golden opportunities came and went at both ends in an action-packed seven minutes of stoppage time.
In the search for Sons’ first success of 2026, boss Frank McKeown handed recalls to skipper Mark Durnan and attacker Scott Honeyman - with Tony Wallace dropping to the bench, and Mikey Doyle missing out completely with a knock.
Chances in the opening half hour were at a premium, with Leighton McIntosh’s daisycutter the only time either keeper was called into action.
Sons continued to have the better of the limited openings as the half wore on, with Ali Omar’s long throw only cleared as far as Mark Durnan on the edge of the area - but the skipper flashed a left-footed drive over the bar.
On the stroke of half-time the home end were screaming for a penalty as Scott Honeyman was upended right on the edge of the area, however referee Gary Hanvidge was perfectly placed to award a free-kick.
Honeyman dusted himself down, but went for placement over power and curled over the bar - as a forgettable first-half ended goalless.
Boss McKeown was forced into a change at half-time with Tobi Joseph replacing Kai Kirkpatrick, with the Bully Wee then dealt a very early blow in the second-half - as ex-Son Jinky Hilton, fresh off a hat-trick against Edinburgh City, was forced off with a serious looking ankle injury.
When play resumed Kyle Fleming’s deep cross caused mayhem in the Dumbarton defence, with Logan Dunnachie heading across the face of a totally empty goal with no takers in red.
Hilton’s replacement Kyle Connell then almost had an instant impact as he picked up a loose ball inside the area and arrowed a low drive narrowly wide of the far post.
At the other end, a superb bit of skill from Adam Livingstone saw him almost free top scorer Leighton McIntosh - but the striker took a heavy touch and Clyde keeper Jay Hogarth raced out to smother the loose ball.
Only a sharp Kristian Webster block then denied Scott Williamson after Darren Hynes’ cross had bounced through to the forward in the area.
Sons were beginning to live dangerously however, and were thankful to keeper Brett Long for a superb full-stretch save to deny Andy Murdoch from inside a packed penalty area - after Connell’s long throw had only been half-cleared.
Dumbarton responded and saw penalty claims fall on deaf ears after Adam Livingstone had his shot blocked by a diving red shirt inside the area.
A golden chance then came and went for the hosts.
Scott Honeyman’s inch perfect pass then sent Leighton McIntosh clean through, but he was denied by a superb Jay Hogarth stop - with the former Sons goalkeeper making himself huge to bravely keep his side level.
As the game moved towards stoppage time, it was then Clyde’s time to pass up a big opportunity to snatch the points.
Another Connell long throw caused panic in the Dumbarton backline, with Robbie Leitch blazing over from the edge of the six yard box.
Then, in the fourth minute of stoppage time, came the chance Sons had been dreaming of.
Hogarth’s weak clearance presented the ball straight to Scott Honeyman on the half-way line, and he charged in on goal before unselfishly squaring for Scott Tomlinson - but the Ayr United loanee slipped as he went for goal, with his trundling effort cleared off the line.
There was still time for one final scare for Sons too however, courtesy of another Connell long throw.
Brett Long misjudged the ball as he went to collect it - with Marley Redfern turning into the unguarded net. However the whistle of referee Gary Hanvidge for a barge on the keeper spared his blushes as things ended all square.
