After four postponements, Dumbarton and Stirling Albion finally played their cinch League Two fixture at the fifth time of asking.
The top two sides battled to a goalless draw at The Rock as Sons put the visitors champagne on ice for the time being.
Boss Stevie Farrell was able to name an unchanged side from the one that was victorious at Bonnyrigg Rose just a few days prior with the same five substitutes also listed.
In a cagey affair, chances were few and far between with Stirling come closest through set pieces.
The Binos have been ruthless when it comes to scoring from corners against Dumbarton this season and Robert Thomson should have added to their tally when he headed over the bar from close range and Paul McLean also headed off target from a promising position.
For Sons, Kalvin Orsi and Aron Lynas were linking up well down the right but failed to seriously test Blair Currie in the Stirling goal despite a couple of teasing deliveries.
The second-half was just as evenly balanced as the first with neither goalkeeper forced into a save of any real note.
Stirling’s Kieran Moore fizzed an effort across goal and just past the far corner before the visitors had a penalty appeal when the ball bobbled about the 18-yard box before appearing to strike Martin McNiff on the arm but the appeals were waved away.
Dumbarton did create two golden chances to win the game with a few minutes to go as Russell McLean glanced a header into the goalkeepers arms from a central position and Declan Byrne took aim for the top corner but Currie was able to collect as the game ended goalless.
